| - - so...the last few days of may are creeping along slowly...anticipation always gets the best of me. but anyway, to the point. this monday is memorial day, i figure it would be a good time to kick off the first cookout for the summer. who's in? now i can supply hotdogs and buns...and probably some dean's yummiful dip, and condiments. however, i think i'll need help with the rest.
JTMs chips (variety) drinks macaronni salad paper plates baked beans macaronni and cheese...mmm dessert... cookies, brownies, etc.
am i forgetting anything? if you can bring one or more of these items to the cookout, or you want to bring something else, please comment and let me know or call me. it would really help out a lot considering the fact that the summer job search isn't going too well. hope to see you there. woot.
| this is a long one... "hold on to your butts"
last weekend can be summed up with one sentence- the best weekend of the year. i've been waiting so long to take another road trip/ vacation with israel and the band and last weekend all of the waiting payed off. it was an amazing run of four shows with four great bands that played everynight (last tuesday, staple, kids in the way, spoken). the first night, brooke, nichole and i drove out to lafayette indiana where the boys played to a sold out crowd. the place was packed...but when i saw israel for the first time everyone else ceased to exist. (i swear he could see stars in my eyes). i said my hellos to the rest of the band after some of the excitement wore off. that night, there were about 400 kids packed into this tiny coffee shop. kids were dancing and singing and the place was a sauna.
after the show we went back to kids in the way's apartment and stayed up intil 4:30 catching up and discussing cloning, dinosaurs, and physics.(pop quiz...what is gravity?) man i love those guys. the next day all of us went out to this cute little authentic mexican place for lunch (doesn't even compare to la fiesta) and joked it up. as soon as we got back...the boys through down a couple of halo games and then we headed out to kokamo. once again, another great show. while spoken was playing, nichole and i played the staple guys a video that we took of thier apartment. (it was leaking and the place was falling apart, we were outraged...needless to say, they weren't that happy either) after that, israel and i watched "follow that bird". i don't know if anyone knows what i'm talking about but it was a sesame st. movie made about big bird...it struck a heart chord and our evening turned into "reminiscity" pretty quickly. after the show israel and i went back to nathan (from kids in the way) and his wife, bonnie's house to stay the night for an attempt to get away from the noise. it proved to be a good decision. we saw their new house and it's beautiful. they just got a bull dog named niles and he's 5 months old, teething, and into everything. bonnie says he has a thing for girls legs...anyway, it was a fantastic evening and it was wonderful of bonnie and nathan to offer up their home. honestly...they're some of the best people i know. around 1 00 israel started to get really sick. he ran a fever and was feeling achey and stuffy. so we went to bed shortly after...poor guy. but thankfully the next morning he was fine...so we went to panera. woot! sun. night was the lima show. the first band, last tuesday (you should check them out, they're great guys) was on. they were an awesome opening band for all of the shows i saw with them...but sun. night they were in their prime. my awesome parents came out to that one to watch staple and kids in the way. you would have thought my dad was a teenage fan girl the way he was taking pictures. is and i drove back to my house after the show and spent some quality time in a familiar environment which was nice.
(blah blah blah...i know i'm sorry)
mon. we both drove back to mechanicsburg and then headed out to the radio u tv and radio studios so the boys could do interviews and promotional tapes. it was actually really fun to watch behind the scenes what takes place on those broadcasts. then, monday night was the little brothers show in columbus. mary-pat made it out which made my night...and i got her in for free. (sneaky). the show was phenominal...the best of the four. they sold out little brothers and there were still 100 kids waiting outside in line for an hour. i've never seen it so full...there were some 450 kids there. all of the bands performed great! staple had an excellent set and when kids in the way cut out during hallelujia, everyone in the house was singing along. those nights are the best. after the show was over, i said my goodbyes to all of the bands, which is always hard. you meet such great people when you're out on the road. then drove back to mechanicsburg. i spent the night looking a band photos, and the morning saying my goodbye to israel for the next run, and i'm feeling great about it. i'm so proud of what he's doing, and i can't wait until he gets into the studio and records the new album. this weekend, he gave me a taste of a future i hope to be a part of. i loved every minute of it and seeing him this weekend proved to me that we're stronger than mile markers and that even two different points on map can't seperate us.
ps. check out/ pray for these bands: last tuesday kids in the way sides of the north staple

| - - - - - - - two posts: one month: no peace, no serinity
even though i've already posted this month...and all of my faithful readers (cricket cricket) know that i only post once a month so not to get too caught up in the xanga community...i've decided that my last weekend of fun was worthe breaking the rules. i suppose it started on thurs. when nichole and i went over to brooky's to bleach her hair. we had to kick off the weekend of fun with a sleepover (sans pillow fights). in order to kill some time, nichole and i brought over some outrageous wigs and i decided to go goth for an evening.
what the?
on friday night my good friend heather came over and the next morning we went to pancake days. mind you, pancake days is an annual event...meaning it only happens once a year. i missed it last year, but let me tell you, this year was worth the wait. (except for the minor inconvenience that there was no orange drink this year...only blue poweraid... who even likes blue poweraid anyway?) needless to say...i got 4 pancakes for the road and then heather and i went off to kill an afternoon. (sidenote: heather and my adventurous side came out when we started exploring through a prohibited area of the three story antique shop. on the third floor we found quite possibly the sweetest flat in the entire world...and no one was using it. naturally my mind began to wander...i'm cooking up a plan.) later that afternoon, i went kyacking for the first time with my dad down the miami river. it was awesome!
look at that face! do you think anyone wants a paddle to the face wearing those glasses and that hat? forget about it!
that night heather came back over to my place and brooke and nichole followed shortly after. a dance party broke out and there was nothing i could do to stop it...i'm sorry.
dj encore brought the eurotrash
from there we went to la fiesta where we partook in some delicious eats and mischief. i stole the sombrero de cumpleanos and we each took turns pretending we were smashed. come on...can we party or what?
yo soy una gata loca!
looks like brooke is trying to mix her margaritas with hot sauce again.
EH! GRINGAS! esta la fiesta aqui?
"anyone for a body shot?"
anyway...we had a few good laughs. i'm pretty sure everyone esle in the restuarant thought we were out of our minds...can you blame them? after the hat fiasco...we dared brooke to eat some of the hottest sauce known to man...and sure enough...she did it with out even flinching, what a trooper!

all and all...a great weekend. we'll have to do it again sometime ladies.
| - - - Finally! some nice weather. i hear my aerobe super disc calling.
last night...one of the best nights of my college experience so far. i know i know...i'm also the queen of hype, but seriously people. a much needed girls night out promoting ridiculously loud music, unsafe late night driving, and irrisponsible hours (considering i had class at 9 30 today). nichole came and picked me up after classes at 6:00 and we started down to Newport KY. we stopped on the way at a CVS which was by a huge land fill. it smelled like you would expect landfills to smell. we had to stop though because i lost my toothbrush at the beginning of the week. i was going out of my mind. i didn't have a toothbrush for the entire week nor means of transportation to go to the store and get one. sick. i was hurting. so i bought one and brushed my teeth in the CVS bathroom. afterwards we drove through the landfill wendy's and partook in some dollar menu favorites. (did i tell you this was the best night of my life or what?)...anyway, so i get to south gate house where beth was walking up the steps at the same time and kept looking at me like she recognized me but wasn't sure if she should say anything. it was good to see her again. when we got into the place i quickly found out i was that girl. i was first in line...like a geek. man! i thought for sure it wasn't going to be me this time. anway...people started showing up that i knew from good old troy ohio and we caught up. the first band started and didn't play anything memorable. but the second band, chin up chin up, was great...nichole and i went halves on a cd. then the moment i'd been waiting for. the appleseed cast show with, hold your breath, the new drummer. i was pleasently surprised though. he had some big shoes to fill but jr. delivered and a great time was had by all. after the show my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. i can't help it ok? i was invited to live my dream and had to reluctantly decline...le sigh. needless to say i was starry eyed but was able to keep my cool and supress the fangirl within. the night didn't end until 5:30 in the morning and included 4 cups of waffle house coffee and a list of possible aliases. i floated through class today with a huge smile despite my stinging fogged eyes and the smell of smoke in my hair.
smokey venues great music hilarious friends april fools cheap lines 5 times alter egos i love these nights.
